This is an abnormal situation which presents breast tissue outside the breast area either above or below the existing normal breast. This tissue behaviour during the cycle is similar to that of the normal breast including the swelling and sensitivity. Moreover the possibility of getting malignant disease is not excluded.
Local anaesthesia can be used to perform an outpatient procedure. For anxious patients and those with extensive problems the option of general anaesthesia is possible.
The stitches can be removed in 5-6 days. The patient can return to light work in 2-3 days and strenuous activities after a month. The scarring is almost invisible.
